Mobile Application

Design Goals
My project is a mobile app designed to help people translate text while making it easier to read. The app is particularly useful for individuals who struggle to understand complex texts or are not fluent in a particular language.
Using the camera on a smartphone, the app can scan text in various languages, and translate to different languages and level of reading. This makes it easier for individuals to comprehend the text and engage with its content.
One unique feature of the app is its ability to work with books, including classic literature. For instance, the app can scan a Shakespearean play written in German and provide an English translation in simplified language. This feature makes it an excellent resource for language learners or those studying literature in a foreign language.
Overall, the app’s goal is to make reading and translation more accessible to everyone, regardless of language proficiency or reading level. It empowers individuals to engage with texts that were previously too difficult to understand, making it an essential tool for learning and personal growth.

Research

My research consisted of User journey and persona maps. I envisioned the problems that a young reader could run into, and used the it helped me conceptualize how Blue Pages could change the world. Here is Otto, a young reader who was gifted an English Shakespeare book from his aunt. Despite Ottos brilliance, he speaks German and is only 10 years old, so he will need some help to read the book.

Frames
After all of the research and planning work, I made my prototype frames for Blue Pages. It shows the basic function of the app, with the scanning ability and translation.
